Advantage Microsystems was founded in 1997 by Steve Hart, then an ambitious UC Berkeley student with a passion for technology. What began as one student providing computer support services has since grown into a nationwide IT provider recognized for its innovative IT solutions and personalized customer care.

Steve’s interest in computers started early with the Commodore 64 and later the Apple IIe, at a time when only 8% of households owned a computer. As a teen, he supported neighbors and family with technology, then worked for a local computer networking company where he quickly advanced to senior technician, even traveling across states to help customers with IT challenges.

During his first year at UC Berkeley, Steve became one of the youngest Microsoft Certified System Engineers in the country. In 1998, he incorporated Advantage Microsystems and hired his first employee while completing his undergraduate studies. After graduation, he converted contractors into full-time staff, focusing on building a strong team culture and long-term client relationships.

By adopting a flat-fee IT services model and proactive IT strategy, Steve positioned the company for long-term success. In 2016, the team doubled in size to ensure clients continued to receive the personalized IT support that Advantage Microsystems is known for.

While technology has rapidly evolved, Steve’s commitment to service remains the same. Today, Advantage Microsystems provides Managed IT Services, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, and compliance support for businesses across the U.S., helping organizations transform through reliable, secure, and strategic IT.
